Caring for your
Gold Vermeil Jewellery
The two newest collections from She Fine Jewellery feature Gold Vermeil jewellery (pronounced ver-may).
Vermeil is the most traditional form of gold-plating and this technique has stood the test of time since first used by French artisans in the 1700's.
To call jewellery Gold Vermeil it must have a base metal of solid 925 sterling silver, be plated with a minimum of 10k gold, and have a thickness level of at least 2.5microns. For gold-tone jewellery this is the best you can get, besides solid gold. It is far more durable than other gold-plated jewellery and can last for years, but if worn continuously and not cared for the gold can start to wear after 6 months.
To care for your Vermeil jewellery, store your pieces in a cool, dark place and away from direct sunlight. Remove your jewellery when bathing or applying perfume or creams.
To clean, use a gold polishing cloth and gently rub in a circular motion or wash in a gentle non-chemical soap with warm water.
